This paper describes the development and implementation of an impedance tube prototype, intended to measure the acoustic absorption coefficient of materials, from the transfer function, according to the methodology proposed by ISO 10534-2. The construction of a PVC tube using a 3D printer was proposed. The prototype is a system based on four modular sections: (1) sound source, (2) extension, (3) end and (4) sample holder. In the acoustic conditioning of premises, it is essential to obtain reliable acoustic absorption coefficients of the materials used. In general, there are two standardized methods for determining the acoustic absorption coefficients of materials: in a reverberation chamber, according to ISO 354, and in an impedance tube, according to ISO 10534, part 1, the standing wave method and part 2, transfer function method. The camera measurement is intended to accurately obtain the behavior in the diffuse field, but the method requires large sample surfaces, sometimes not available, taking a reasonable measurement time. The measurement in an impedance tube is an alternative method of special interest, since, although the characterization obtained from the material is under normal incidence, the measurement times are shorter and the size of the samples is reduced to the diameter of the apparatus, which facilitates its availability. This methodology allows to quickly obtain relatively reliable values of the acoustic behavior of the material. The results of reproducibility tests are shown, taking as reference samples of the same material measured with other methods: in a reverberant chamber and/or in a standing wave impedance tube.
