Abstract

Acoustic comfort has proved to be a challenge for civil construction, bringing a performance approach beyond strength and durability. The validity of the performance standard for housing buildings, ABNT NBR 15575:2021, establishing requirements, criteria and evaluation methods, which include the isolation of impact noise on floors, acted positively for the evolution of acoustic quality in Brazilian housing buildings. The results of floor impact noise insulation tests, carried out in the laboratory and in the field, show differences. Thus, the performance in built buildings may not reach the estimated in the projective specifications, based on the results of measurements in the laboratory. To contribute to the understanding the difference in performance between laboratory and field, this work presents an analysis of factors that changed the level of standard weighted impact sound pressure (L'nT,w), by field test. As a case study, four classrooms at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism at UNICAMP were evaluated, considering characteristics such as: types of floor covering, thickness of the slabs, presence of lining, arrangement of the slabs in relation to the walls, area and volumes of the receiving environments. The tests followed the procedures of the ABNT NBR ISO 16283-2:2018 and ISO 717-2:2013 standards. Based on the data obtained from the field evaluation, a comparative study of the acoustic performance of the different environments was carried out. It was concluded that factors such as the thickness of the slabs and the presence of lining in the receiving room influenced the acoustic insulation, and that the influence of the types of floor, area and volume of the environments and position of the slabs in relation to the side walls did not show significant differences.
